SOCAR Terminal at a Glance
SOCAR Terminal at a Glance
Petlim Port Management Inc. (Petlim) was established on November 22, 2010, to develop and operate Petkim Port more efficiently and construct the "Largest Integrated Port in the Aegean Region." It is a 100% subsidiary of Petkim, and in the final quarter of 2014, Goldman Sachs, one of the world's top investment banks, acquired 30% of its shares.
Petkim constructed this port and put it into operation to achieve logistics integration. The investment in the port reached $400 million, including financing costs. Through a strategic partnership with APM Terminals in terminal container operations, the port's first phase, with a capacity of 800,000 TEUs, was launched on December 6, 2016, and started operated by APM Terminals Port Management Inc. The second phase of the port was inaugurated on July 4, 2018, and started running at its total capacity.
SOCAR Türkiye Energy Inc. fully acquired APM Terminals Port Management Inc. on December 27, 2018. The company was renamed SOCAR Aliağa Liman İşletmeciliği A.Ş., and its operations are now being carried out by SOCAR Aliağa Liman İşletmeciliği A.Ş. (SOCAR Terminal). While maintaining the previous management's port management system and operational structure, SOCAR Terminal continues its operations in line with SOCAR's integration vision and goals in Türkiye. The port, with a single pier structure of 700 meters and a minimum water depth of 16 meters, is the first and only port management company in the Aegean region to serve 18,000 TEU capacity ships efficiently.

The port is the biggest in the Aegean region, with a container handling capacity of 1.5 million TEUs. The port has a 42-hectare area designated for container storage and another 6-hectare logistics area for the same purpose. The terminal area is also equipped with a 150-meter general cargo pier that is 10 meters deep.
The general cargo pier at SOCAR Terminal has a carrying capacity of 10 tons per square meter. An additional storage area of 30 acres is provided for project cargo shipments that require storage. With its innovative approach, robust infrastructure, and core values, SOCAR Terminal continues to enhance its value proposition to customers and ship operators in the Aegean region and Türkiye.
